NOTE: The term backflow preventer, and many other associated terms like backflow preventers, backflow prevention, backflow valve and backflow preventors, as well as the two-word versions back flow preventer, back flow preventers, back flow valves and back flow valve technically refer to "fresh water" backflow valves that prevent possibly contaminated drinking water from flowing from a building back into a public water supply. Many people confuse the terms backwater (back water) and backflow (back flow) when they are seeking the backwater valves that we offer. It is understandable that people call what we sell a backflow valve, but the technically correct terminology associates backwater valves with sewage and backflow valves with fresh water.
